Shah Alam National Botanical Garden or Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam (TBNSA) which was previously known as TPM and which was initially known as Bukit Cherakah Agriculture Park was developed on 24 April 1986 before it was promulgated as the Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam Agriculture Park Malaysia in 1991. The name TBNSA conferred to the park now is in line with the decision made by the government in 2007 to further develop TBNSA as a replacement to TPM as national botanical garden.

The objective for the development of TBNSA is to create a national center of excellence within the fields of education, scientific research and conservation for the development of botanical, horticulture, agriculture and other various related fields. There are several attractions at the park including a 72-hectare Animal Garden, Lake Garden, Four Season Temperate House, Paddy Field, Cactus Garden, Tropical Fruits Garden and Herbs Garden. Besides that, there are also chalets and seminar hall for rent here inside the park area.
